A few snow pics.
Had neighbors over for dinner and games this evening since we're going a bit stir crazy here. No church tomorrow. Not leaving the house for a while, yet. Good time.
At least the pictures are pretty!

Finally posting the shots of Jacob from the first day of school, which was Tuesday. So far, he loves school and his teacher, and is excited about getting to play soccer this fall. I, on the other hand, am drowning in paperwork, applications, and fundraising materials.
BTW, If you need wrapping paper or cookie dough, let me know. I'll either send you the link to the site or you can come over and peruse the catalogs on my comfy green couch. :P
waiting for the bus
getting on the bus
Alas, there are no getting off the bus pics because they DROPPED HIM OFF AT THE WRONG STOP! There was a miscommunication and he was sent to the daycare down the street. Since it's where he went to preschool last year and they already have all of our contact info, they just took him and gave us a call. There are a few advantages to living in a small town :)
It's been a big week and I have a bunch of photos to post, so here goes:
On Sunday we had our birthday BBQ. We try to do a big thing a couple of times a year, with the main one being between my birthday (Aug 8th) and Jason's (Aug 26th). Marci made the cupcakes (Irish Car Bomb for the adults, plain chocolate for the kids), which was way, way better than birthday cake, and we had burgers and dogs and shot off sodas a la Mythbusters. Grand times all around.
We went to the zoo this morning, which was a lot of fun, especially since the weather cooled down and it was even a little rainy.
We still have a few days left of vacation and of Melonie and David in town, so there will probably be more pictures up and coming, but for now I'm going to call it a night. Thanks for looking!
happy birthday alex!
We had a good time at the party. Carrie got a bounce thingie and ponies for riding. Kids had a lot of fun. It was a really good day, overall, but it amazes me how quickly they grow. It seems a cliche to mention it. People mention it so much, but it's true. You look away for a moment and the kids are full grown.
OK. I have to go set up the Kitchen now, have a good night!
Obama kicked my butt this week. Well, actually, his picture did - the one above, to be precise. The frame hates me, the mat was difficult, the glass hard to clean. Little specks kept getting inside, til I said "to Hell with this" and moved on to the customer's other order. That one beat me up and the sharp metal frame took a chunk out of my arm. Thinking I was done, I turned it over to find a chip of glass in the mat. I gave up, set them both aside, told Jaqui she had to do the orders. They are for her friend anyway.
Other than that, good times all around. Had a short shift yesterday, hung out with jirris_midvaleand his lovely ladyringoand went home and had Chinese food with the family and bought some new clothes at Lane Bryant and watched half of Ocean's 13 before I started to doze off. Went to bed with my gorgeous husband and actually woke up with him this morning - working opposite shifts means while we technically share a bed, in reality that rarely happens. Jacob is feeling better. His voice is still raspy but he's energetic again and ate a gigatinc breakfast. Now he's playing with the Little People with his sister. Older kids are great at being live-in babysitters. I've showered 3 times in the last 3 days, which is some sort of record, I think. Had yummy coffee and a bacon and cheese and spinach omlette for breakfast.
My friend's daughter Alex turns 4 today which means I've known Carrie for 4 years and a couple of months - she was hugely pregant with Alex when I met her. We're going to the birthday party at noon, hopefully I'll have some pictures this evening. It's cloudy and cool today which will be nice for the kids outside.
Kids are losing it, going to put Daphne down for her nap - hopefully she will rest and not be grumpy at the party.
Jacob is sick on the couch and Daphne is napping blissfully. As soon as Mom gets home I get to go to the store for milk and fudgecicles. Have I remembered to mention Daphne has a tooth now and is crawling? I don't know how all that has happened so fast. Soon, Jacob will be in college and Daphne will be announcing her intentions to marry some fellow completely inappropriate for her, just like I did to my folks a decade ago.
I think it's all worked out well, though.
Must. Get. To. Work. Have a ton of stuff to do, need to get off the puter and do it.

you forward it to a bunch of old friends 'cause you know they'll enjoy
it & do the same
So, right now, I'm sitting on my arse in front of the laptop instead of doing more productive things. I have already put away a load of laundry and started a new one, and made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Jacob is back from camping with Memom and Poppa. It sounds like he had a good time - but he tells me my pancakes are better than Memom's. That's OK - she still has me beat on pies.
Well, I have bunches of sewing to do, and at some point I should make more stuff for my etsy site. I need to finish the apricot butter and do more laundry and clean house for the party next month.
pancakes! nom nom nom
look how strong i am!
gotta start em young
jacob took this one. he has a good eye.
he took this one of me - it almost make me look skinny :)
happy first fourth of july, jeremy!
I'm exhausted right now.
We got everything set up by noon yesterday so sodas and beers were nice and cold and so food could be simply pulled out of fridge and plopped on the table when it was time. Heather and Curtis and Lela were the first to show -- they brought mini cheesecakes and beer and explosives and a magic bubble wand. John and the boys came a bit later with more beer and more explosives. The neighbors showed up with their son after dark, coming straight from a bbq for their adopted parents group. The kids had a fantastic time, so did the grown ups. There was way too much food, of course, so it looks like stir frys and fruit salad for a while, from the leftovers from the trays.
The fireworks ended at about 11:30. We started with the smoke bombs and snakes at about 6. Good times.
One small casuality, and it was a grown up. Jason got an ember down his shoe and burned the top of his ankle pretty good. No children injured, though. Kids are sleeping well, now, and I'm trying to shake off my sleepies and achey joints before I have to head to work.
playing badminton. yes, jason has a beer in his hand. he says it makes him play better.
Lela, Jacob, and Henry. Grandma Peggy in the chair.
Hope you all had a happy 4th!
